Hi @MarioVili ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet 8702 All-in-One Printer displays "Starting Copy" but does not proceed, it could be due to several potential issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

  • Cancel Any Pending Jobs: If there are any stuck print or copy jobs, clear them. Go to the printer's control panel, find the print queue, and cancel all jobs.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset the printer's internal processes.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Ensure there are no paper jams inside the printer. Look for paper stuck in the paper tray, the input/output area, or the print path. Even small pieces of paper can cause issues.
  • Check the Printer's Display: Look for any error messages or alerts on the printer's screen. Sometimes the "Starting Copy" message is a symptom of another underlying issue (like a jam, low ink, or paper misfeed).
  • Reset Printer Settings: If the issue persists, try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can resolve any software-related issues. You can find this option in the printer's menu settings.
  • Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure the ink cartridges are installed correctly and have sufficient ink. Sometimes, the printer may not proceed with copying if there’s an issue with the cartridges.
  • Test with a Different Function: Try printing a document from your computer to see if the problem is limited to copying or affects other functions as well.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause functionality issues. Visit HP’s support website to check for any firmware updates and install them if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
