Deskjet 932c Printer
macOS 10.15 Catalina

My problem is the same as that posted 5/31/2024 by Firemedtech under the title "HP 932C not printing ink." My OS is Mac 10.15 Catalina and printer is HP DeskJet 932C.

I followed the troubleshooting steps proposed as a solution by HP and they did not work. I also tried connecting the printer to a more modern MacBook Air and experienced the same issue. New cartridges, cleaned print heads, power drain, etc. etc.

I'm curious why these strange and exact same symptoms are happening to different OSes at around the same time in 2024 on an old, reliable printer model.

Hi @CK_Iowa,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've done a thorough job troubleshooting the issue with your HP DeskJet 932C printer. Given that you're encountering the same issue across different OS versions and devices, it's possible that the problem might be due to a few factors.

  • Driver Compatibility: Since the HP DeskJet 932C is an older model, its drivers might not be fully compatible with newer OS updates or might be experiencing issues that affect multiple operating systems. Even if you’re using the latest available drivers, they might not be fully optimized for your current OS versions.
  • Firmware Issues: The printer's firmware could be outdated or have compatibility issues with modern software. Although firmware updates are less common for older models, it’s worth checking if there’s an update available.
  • Hardware Aging: Over time, the printer's internal components can degrade. If several users are experiencing similar issues with this model around the same time, it might suggest a common hardware fault that becomes apparent as the printers age.
  • Software Conflicts: Software updates on MacOS and other operating systems can sometimes introduce conflicts with older hardware, especially if the drivers or printer software are not updated to accommodate these changes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden,

I appreciate your quick response, but unfortunately speculating on the potential reasons for a dysfunction doesn't provide a workable solution. I'm not willing to buy a new printer and throw this in a landfill. This is a beast of a printer that should not have any problem continuing to function. It's in pristine condition and the drivers have been updated. It has brand new HP brand ink. It is also functioning with a working computer from around the same era so technically it should be able to work if offline as there would be no software incompatibility.

Could you please provide a solution that will potentially get the printer working again?

Is this a known problem?

Thank you,

Claire
