@fred4441, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color Laser 150 printer is showing a red light but there's no paper jam, it usually indicates a different issue. Here's a quick checklist to troubleshoot it:
Check the LED Status and Error Code
- Look at the printer's LED panel: Often, the red light is accompanied by a specific blinking pattern or status light combination.
- If possible, print a Configuration Report (press and hold the Cancel button (X) for 5–10 seconds) to see if it gives an error description.
Check Toner Cartridge Status
A red light can indicate:
- Toner is low or empty
- Toner not installed correctly
- Wrong toner cartridge (not HP genuine or not recognized)
Open the front cover and:
- Remove/reinstall all cartridges securely
- Check for any toner-related error messages
Check Paper Tray and Settings
Even if there's no jam, check:
- Paper tray is inserted correctly
- Paper size/type matches the printer settings
- Try removing and reinserting the paper stack
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer
- Unplug it for 1 minute
- Plug back in and turn it on again
Check Driver/Print Queue (If Printing from PC)
Sometimes the issue is software-side:
- Cancel all pending print jobs
- Restart your computer and printer
- Make sure the correct printer driver is installed
Use HP Smart App or Easy Printer Manager
- If you're on Windows, install HP Easy Printer Manager – it may give a clear error message
- If you're using mobile or Mac, try the HP Smart app to check the printer status.
