HP DeskJet 2855e All-in-One Printer

I replaced my ink cartridges because they were low.  I kept getting Error Code 0 with the new cartridges. I thought they were damaged so I got another new set and I keep getting the same error.  I know the tape is off. I have cleaned them, turned the machine on and off multiple times and get the same error.  The image on the right of the display where the ink is shown, the black image looks empty, which it is not as I have had the same thing with two sets of new cartridges. 

The help on HP is horrific.  I tried to get to support and was told twice that a technical error prevented the virtual assistant from helping me.
