HP Deskjet 2700e Stopped connecting

Not used for a while (i.e. a year or more).

Connected yesterday first time printing was working but ink needed replacing. Purchased new Ink replaced cartridges test print worked fine.

Then all of a sudden it refused to connect. I have now reset printer and computer multiple times, used or attempted to use HP Smart and HP app from a phone, and the support bot and guides. It refuses to connect and no troubleshot steps are answering the question or the issue.

Currently the white power and blue wireless lights are flashing.

I have an urgent need to print of a document today.

ANY Help greatly appreciated.

Additional inn attempting to connect to its own wifi setting:

1. The Printer EWS opens.

2. Enter the PIN found on the label located inside the cartridge access area.

When entering the pin it says not recognised, how can this be? its printed on the printer itself.

more detail:

From HP Smart (on a second computer different from the first and a phone).

HP Smart finds the printer immediately,

Configuring the Printer

..sending network information....  then states unable to connect printer to network) It is 2 feet from the computer that have full signal strength to the wireless router) and does not display any other troubleshooting information.

Hi @AaronNorrie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your DeskJet 2700e was working initially, but after replacing the ink cartridges, it suddenly stopped connecting to Wi-Fi. The printer is now flashing white (power) and blue (wireless) lights, and even the PIN from the printer is not being recognized. Let’s go through a few steps to fix this.

    a. Power Cycle Printer and Router
Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
Restart your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it for 10–15 seconds, then plug it back in.
Wait for the router lights to stabilize, then power the printer back on.

    b. Reset Printer Network Settings (Wi-Fi Reset)
With the printer powered on, press and hold Wireless  + Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
The printer will reset its network settings and enter setup mode (blue light will blink slowly).

    c. Reconnect Using HP Smart App
Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
Tap “+” to add a new printer → select your DeskJet 2700e from the list.
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi. Make sure you're using the correct Wi-Fi password.

    d. Check Wi-Fi Network Requirements
Ensure your Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz (this printer does not support 5 GHz networks).
Keep the printer close to the router during setup (within 1–1.5 meters).

    e. If Printer EWS Asks for PIN and Says Incorrect
Make sure you're entering the WPS PIN (8 digits) from the label inside the cartridge access area.
If still not accepted, reset the printer to factory defaults:
        • Press and hold Power + Cancel + Wireless buttons together for 10 seconds.
        • The printer will restart and return to factory setup mode.
After reset, try connecting again via HP Smart.

    f. Update Printer Firmware (if possible)
If the printer temporarily connects via USB, open HP Smart → Printer Settings → Advanced → Printer Updates.
Install any available firmware updates. This can solve Wi-Fi connection issues.

I hope this helps.
