Hello everyone,

Please help me resolve the issue on my HP Deskjet 3776 with "Door Open" Issue but the cartridge door is fully closed. I don't know where to locate the sensor and the warranty is expired already.

Appreciate your reply. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Belley2025 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the "Door Open" error on the HP Deskjet 3776 typically indicates that the printer's door sensor is not detecting the door as being properly closed. Since you've already confirmed that the cartridge door is fully closed, the issue may be with the door sensor itself or its connection. Here's how you can troubleshoot this issue:

1. Inspect the Door and Sensor

  • Look for Obstructions: Ensure that there’s no debris or paper stuck around the cartridge door or the sensor area.
  • Check for Misalignment: Make sure the door is aligned correctly when it closes, as sometimes the alignment may be off.

2. Locate the Sensor

  • On the HP Deskjet 3776, the sensor is usually located near the edge of the cartridge door, which detects whether the door is properly shut.
  • Look for a small plastic switch or a tab that might be getting blocked or not pressed properly when the door closes.

3. Clean the Sensor Area

  • Gently clean around the door latch and the sensor area with a dry microfiber cloth. Be cautious not to damage any delicate components.

4. Perform a Soft Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Sometimes a reset can resolve sensor misreadings.

5. Check the Wiring

  • If you’re comfortable with opening the printer, check the wiring to the sensor. If any wires are loose or damaged, it may be necessary to reattach or replace them.

6. Test the Printer

  • After checking the above steps, try printing again to see if the error clears.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
