HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer (HP 8620 Deskjet Pro) has a cartridge problem. One or more of the cartridges appears to be damaged. Remove them and replace them with new cartridges. Which I have done, spending $240 USD in the process. I have removed the printer head and cleaned the contacts. I have cleaned the contacts on the cartridges. The firmware is up to date. I have attempted resets without any success. I am heavily invested in my attempts to correct the problem. Can HP restore my faith in business with ethics?

Hi @cdgraham463,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet Pro 8620 is displaying the message "A Cartridge Problem: One or more cartridges appear to be damaged," it could be due to a number of issues. Here are some possible solutions to the problem.

  • Check the cartridges: Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Check for any signs of damage such as dents, scratches or leakage. If you find any damage, replace the cartridge with a new one.
  • Clean the cartridges: Sometimes the ink or dust on the cartridges can cause a problem. Try cleaning the cartridge with a soft cloth or cotton swab. Reinstall the cartridges and try printing again.
  • Restart the printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix the issue. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update the printer firmware: Check for any available updates for your printer's firmware. Visit the HP website and download the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to update your printer's firmware.
  • Reset the printer: If none of the above solutions work, try resetting the printer to its default settings. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
