Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to set use my HP 4250 which I haven't touched in a few years and its causing issues at every stage.
First I find it won't connect to the wifi even when I enter the password. I google this and trying various options and I find I have to turn my wifi off, turn the printer off, then turn the printer back on, reset its network settings. Then turn my wifi back back on and connect again.
I then find out I have to download the HP smart app to my laptop just to print something. Once downloaded I find my printer and click print a test pdf. This does not work, all I get is a message saying there was an error from my print queue.
So I try to print a normal document. I find out I have to create an account to print a document using my own printer... I do this, wait for the email which does not arrive in my inbox or spam. I then click resend the email confirmation and I get a message saying "Sorry! We are unable to send a verification code at this time. Please try again later."

I'm now here with an account on a different email. I go to my printers and devices on windows 10, select print test page and it does nothing. So I run trouble shooter which cant find anything but says download HP Print and Scan Doctor. I download and run this, This take sometime and says it has installed some new software and to restart my laptop. So I restart, go to print this test page again. My printer says printing, the arm comes out and then it stops and nothing happens, it says "finishing printing" and thats it. I've tried the advice here but my HP ENVY 4524 is not on the list in the drivers. What do I do?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to print, I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be a driver issue, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Did you uninstall the old printer driver from root level before installing the new driver?

If not, follow these steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.
