HP Envy 6155e won't properly print envelopes using Microsoft word 2021. The printer is brand new and we can only get it to print the return address, no delivery address and return address is in the wrong place. We've tried all the fixes and no success.

Hi @PickBA

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Got it — brand-new HP Envy 6155e, and envelopes in Word 2021 are only printing the return address (and in the wrong spot), but not the delivery address. That almost always comes down to page setup + printer feed settings not matching.

Here’s a clean way to get envelopes working:

Step 1. Use Word’s Envelope Tool

In Word → Mailings tab → Envelopes.

Enter Delivery Address and Return Address.

Click Options:

Envelope Options tab:

Select the correct size (most US is #10 = 4.125 x 9.5").

Printing Options tab:

Set Feed Method to match how the HP 6155e loads envelopes (face up, top edge first).

Word shows diagrams → match the one in your HP’s paper tray guide.

Step 2. Check Printer Settings

On the printer, when you load an envelope in the tray:

Push it all the way to the right.

Adjust the paper guides snugly.

On the control panel, if it asks for paper type, select Envelope.

Step 3. Match Word & Driver Settings

When printing → go to File → Print → Printer Properties (sometimes called “Preferences”).

Under Paper/Quality (or “Layout” tab):

Paper size = Envelope #10 (or whatever you chose in Word).

Paper type = Envelope.

Source = Tray 1 (or “Main Tray”).

Step 4. Test

Try printing to a plain sheet of paper first (set size to envelope) → see where Word places addresses.

This shows you if it’s alignment vs. feed issue.

If only the return address prints → Word is actually treating the delivery address as “blank” because envelope size isn’t matching driver settings.

If return address is off → feed direction in Word doesn’t match how HP wants it loaded.

The Envy 6000 series can be finicky with small paper sizes — firmware updates help. On the printer: Setup → Printer Maintenance → Update Printer.
