HP ENVY Photo 7858 does not reset

The printer does not come up with the home screen and gets stuck.  Hard reset does not work.  Any other tricks to get the home screen back?!

I have a 7855 that I let sit too long (switched on and sleeping) and it developed maladies that would not clear.

• I pressed and held down the power button (unit still plugged in) for about 20 seconds.
• As I recall, I pressed and released power again and printer started with an error splashed on the printer control panel.
• Unplugged printer for 2 minutes - plugged back into power.
• Printer booted - no errors.
• Printing Quality, after sitting so long, was poor.
• Cleaned the print heads about three times and ran the alignment.

All good now.

Will doing the same improve anything for your stubborn printer?

Maybe -- or maybe not.

It's not difficult to try and it won't likely make anything worse.
