HP Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Until now I have had no problem with automatic double sided printinting on my Envy 4520 but for the last few days this facility is no longer there and double sided printing has to be done manually.

Can anyone help please?

Although neither the Printer Software or the Firmware are likely to have been updated (recently), Windows Updates can sometimes "pull the rug out from under" the software that is installed.

Check to see if the "duplex" setting is still set to "installed":

Duplex feature installed?  (Model Dependent)

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Right-Click Printer > Printer Properties > tab Device Settings >

Under Installable Options > Automatic Duplexing Unit > Select / Verify Installed > OK

Next, check to be sure the Media type (kind of paper) is not set to a paper type that is not supported for duplex.  For example, Media type "photo paper" and "duplex" are not compatible.
