Hi @ValerieJean43 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Envy 4527 printer is not printing in color despite having a new color cartridge, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check the Printer Settings:
- Open the Print Settings on your computer before printing and ensure that the Color option is selected (not set to Black & White or Grayscale).
- For Windows:
- Open the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP Envy 4527 printer and select Printing Preferences.
- Under the Color tab, make sure Color is selected and not Grayscale.
2. Check the Ink Cartridge:
- Verify that the new color cartridge is properly installed.
- If it’s installed correctly, check that the protective tape has been removed from the cartridge.
3. Print a Test Page:
- Try printing a self-test report or diagnostic page to see if the issue is with the printer itself.
- To do this, go to the Control Panel of the printer, navigate to the Tools or Settings menu, and select Print Report or Print Test Page.
- If the test page does not print in color, it could indicate an issue with the printer's ink delivery system.
4. Run Printer Diagnostics:
- On your computer, open the HP Smart app or HP Printer Assistant.
- Use the Printer Diagnostics tool to check for any errors or issues with the printhead or ink cartridges.
5. Clean the Printhead:
- Sometimes, the printhead gets clogged, preventing the color ink from printing correctly.
- Use the printer’s built-in tool to clean the printhead (check the printer’s manual or settings on the printer display).
- You can also perform a manual cleaning of the printhead using a lint-free cloth and water, but be sure to follow the printer’s instructions carefully.
6. Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date by checking the HP website or using the HP Smart app. Sometimes, updates can resolve printing issues.
7. Reset the Printer:
- If all else fails, try performing a factory reset on the printer. This can sometimes resolve configuration or software issues that might be causing the problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
