I used the printer last month, but now it is stuck in the Initial loading screen with 2 dots on the progress bar.

I've unplugged the printer for more than a minute to reset, and restarted the router.  I am trying to update the drivers but the printer isn't connected to wifi or bluetooth so I don't see how this is possible.  Help!

Hi @tcpie20,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your HP Envy 5055 printer gets stuck on the loading screen, especially when you’ve already tried unplugging and restarting everything. That quiet hum followed by two stubborn dots can feel like your printer is holding its breath and refusing to exhale.

Here’s what you can do to bring it back to life:

Fix for HP Envy 5055 Stuck on Loading Screen (2 Dots)

1. Try a Hard Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord and all other cables.
  • Wait 2 minutes.
  • Plug everything back in and power it on.

2. Check for Paper or Ink Cartridge Obstructions

  • Open the access door and gently inspect the carriage area.
  • Remove and reinsert cartridges if accessible.

3. Attempt a Button-Based Factory Reset

If the screen is stuck and buttons are still responsive:

  • Press and hold Cancel + Wireless buttons together for 5–10 seconds.
  • This may trigger a soft reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
