Hi @JC5546-2024,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To remove documents waiting to be printed on an HP ENVY 5546 All-In-One Printer when using Microsoft Windows 11, follow these steps:
Clear the Print Queue:
- Click on the Start menu or press the Windows key.
- Type "Control Panel" and open it.
- Go to "Hardware and Sound" > "Devices and Printers".
- Find the HP ENVY 5546 printer in the list of devices, right-click on it, and select "See what's printing" or "Open queue", depending on your version of Windows.
- In the printer queue window, you can see all the documents that are currently waiting to be printed. To remove them, you can either right-click on individual documents and select "Cancel", or to clear all documents, select "Printer" from the menu at the top of the window and choose "Cancel All Documents" or "Purge Print Documents", depending on your version of Windows. You might need administrative privileges to do this.
Restart the Print Spooler Service:
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
- Scroll down and find the "Print Spooler" service.
- Right-click on "Print Spooler" and select "Stop". Wait a few seconds.
- Right-click on "Print Spooler" again and select "Start".
Check the Printer:
- Ensure the printer is turned on and in a ready state.
- Check for any error messages on the printer's display and address them as necessary.
Documents end up in the print queue for several reasons:
- User-initiated printing: When you select the print option from any application, it sends the document to the print queue.
- Printing errors: If there's an error during printing, such as a paper jam, connectivity issue, or low ink, the document might remain in the queue until the issue is resolved.
- Paused printing: If the printer or print queue is paused, documents will accumulate in the queue until it is resumed.
- Multiple documents: Sending multiple documents to the printer in a short period can cause them to queue up, especially if the printer is slow or the documents are large.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
