HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

I've had a issue since JAN 4, 2025. E6 Error General Printer Failure.

Chatted with representatives twice and they can't solve this remotely, and pushed it to another person that "would get back to me", but no contact at all since.... They said it might "take some time" to hear back. HOW much time is SOME TIME? So far, 2 weeks!! This is unacceptable!!! I cannot use the printer at all, purchased last Feb 2024,and it is still under warranty. To keep the power to the printer, all the lights are flashing on and off. The power button doesn't work, I have unplug it.

Hi @NVee,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "E6 General Printer Failure" on the HP Envy 6455e, accompanied by all the lights flashing and the power button being unresponsive, typically indicates a hardware or firmware issue. Here's how to troubleshoot the problem.

Perform a Power Reset

  1. Turn off the printer by unplugging it from the power source.
  2. Wait 60 seconds to ensure the printer completely resets.
  3. Plug the printer back into a direct wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or power strips).
  4. Turn on the printer and check if the issue persists.

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  1. Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or foreign objects inside.
  2. Remove any visible obstructions carefully to avoid damaging the printer.
  3. Ensure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray.

Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait two minutes.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
  5. Turn the printer back on.

Update Firmware

If the printer powers on successfully:

  1. Ensure the printer is connected to a network.
  2. Use the HP Smart app or the printer's web interface to check for and install firmware updates.

Perform a Factory Reset

If the issue persists:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Power button and Cancel button (or a combination listed in your printer's manual for a factory reset).
  3. Continue holding the buttons until the printer restarts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have completed all those suggestions numerous times. I have checked firmware, I have Factory Reset. It eventually goes back to all the lights flashing and is shown as offline on the HP Smart app with Printer Failure. The power button doesn't turn off the printer.
