Hi @Quito1958,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I can imagine how frustrating it must feel to see your printer frozen on that very first dot of the HP logo, especially when you just want to get your work done. Let’s walk through this together and bring your printer back to life.
When your HP Envy Photo 7855 gets stuck during startup, it usually means the printer firmware didn’t load properly, or there’s a hardware initialization issue. Here are the steps that often resolve this:
Step 1: Power Reset
- Turn off the printer by unplugging the power cord from the rear.
- Remove any connected cables (USB/Ethernet).
- Wait for 60 seconds, give it time to fully discharge.
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
- Power it back on and check if it moves past the logo.
Step 2: Check for Hardware Lock
- Open the ink access door and ensure the carriage moves freely.
- Remove any jammed paper or obstructions inside.
Step 3: Perform a Semi-Reset
If the printer still hangs:
- Disconnect the power again.
- Press and hold # and 3 on the control panel while plugging the power cord back in.
- Keep holding until the display turns on. This triggers a semi-reset.
Step 4: Update Firmware (if it boots)
Once the printer starts:
- Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
Or download the latest firmware from HP’s official page: 👉 HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
