Hi @JB2104,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy Pro 6400 printer is having trouble interpreting the print settings, resulting in multiple copies being printed even when you select just one. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Printer Settings:
- Open the print dialog box (from any application).
- Make sure the number of copies is set to 1.
- If you are printing from a specific program (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat), try resetting the print settings within that program as well.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on to reset the printer’s settings.
Update or Reinstall Printer Driver:
- Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can cause unexpected behavior. Go to the HP website and check for the latest driver updates for your Envy Pro 6400.
- You can also uninstall and reinstall the printer driver:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Remove Device.
- After uninstalling, reinstall the driver from the official HP website.
Check Print Queue:
- Sometimes, a stuck print job in the queue can cause issues. Open the Print Queue and make sure there aren’t any pending or stuck print jobs.
- Cancel all jobs in the queue, and then try printing again.
Printer Software Conflict:
- If you're using any HP software like HP Smart or HP Print and Scan Doctor, ensure that it's configured correctly. Sometimes, these apps can override default print settings.
Check for any Default Copy Settings:
- If your printer has a default setting set up for multiple copies (such as through the printer’s control panel), try resetting it or adjusting this setting.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
