HP ENVY 6034e All-in-One Printer

Hello,

Need help to ascertain why E0 continues to pop up on Envy printer despite doing all the trouble shooting.

Husband is about to go insane if we can't fix this.

I thought brand new black cartridge may be faulty but he did manage to print 2 pages off before E0 started happening, over and over again.

I have watched Youtube videos, etc., but it still goes on.

Any specific help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

@Camelot27, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The dreaded E0 error on the HP ENVY 6034e can definitely drive anyone a bit nuts. 😵 Let's get this sorted before you start disassembling it with a hammer.

Let’s Try These Steps (even if you’ve done some before—some secret sauce here!):

  1. Clean the Cartridge Contacts (gently!) Even brand-new cartridges can have residue or misalignment.
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Remove the cartridges.
    • Use a lint-free cloth or coffee filter slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
    • Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
    • Let everything dry for 5 minutes.
    • Reinsert the cartridges and plug the printer back in.

  2. Do a Hard Reset
    • With the printer on, unplug the power from the wall (not the printer first).
    • Wait 60 seconds.
    • Plug it back into the wall directly (no surge protector).
    • Turn it back on.

  3. Double Check Cartridge Position Ensure the cartridges click firmly into place. They should sit snugly—not loose or tilted.

  4. Update Printer Firmware Outdated firmware can cause weird behavior.
    • Go to the HP Smart App or HP Support Site.
    • Check for firmware updates for the ENVY 6034e.
    • Install if available, and then restart the printer.

  5. Try the Old Cartridge (if you still have it) If the old cartridge doesn’t trigger E0, it’s likely the new cartridge is faulty, even if it printed a page or two.

  6. Disable HP Cartridge Protection (if applicable) If this was an Instant Ink cartridge or you changed regions, HP's protection feature might be causing issues.
    • Log into HP Smart → Printer Settings.
    • Look for "Cartridge Protection" under security.
    • Try disabling it (if available).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I am having the same problem.

My printer has been doing this now on and off for the past few months. Normally, I was able to just reinsert the cartridges whenever E0 would flash up and that would resolve it - temporarily. However, I bought some new cartridges and installed a mere couple of hours ago. Printer works fine, I manage to print around 10 pages of a coloured document, then the dreaded E0 flashes again and this time, no matter what i do, it won't go away. I have tried reinserting the cartridges, I have tried cleaning the cartridges and slots gently, I have done hard reset, I have checked if there are any firmware updates or if there is any cartridge protection on (which there wasn't). Nothing has worked, I am incredibly upset and frustrated. I don't understand how it can be printing fine one minute, and then refusing to the next, claiming that there is an issue with the cartridges. Please, please help me someone. I have a HP Envy 6020e
