HP Instant Ink

I have been enrolled in HP Instant Ink for a couple of years and found that I do not use the service enough to justify the cost, so I cancelled the service.  Now my printer says it will not work until I enroll in the Instant Ink program, even though I am using the cartridges I received through the program. What gives?

We don't control the process -- we can provide information to explain the procedure.

Cancelling the Instant Ink subscription results in all Instant Ink / subscription cartridges being locked after the final billing period has ended.

What?

Instant Ink cartridges are provided as part of an active subscription.

and

HP retains ownership of Instant Ink / subscription / subscription activated ink cartridges.

After you cancel,

• Remove all Instant Ink / subscription cartridges from the printer
• Ideally, return the Instant Ink cartridges to HP (free service)
• Purchase a new set of HP cartridges and install
