My HP Laser Jet Pro M452dn is suddenly showing a 55.0502 Error message. I have cycled it on/off several times, and plugged it directly into the wall versus surge protector. Error still not resolved. Is resetting an option? How do I do that, or any other suggestions?
Thank you!

Hi @DMH_BCH,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The 55.0502 error on the HP LaserJet Pro M452dn typically indicates a fuser error, which often involves the fuser unit overheating or not functioning correctly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to address this issue.
Basic Troubleshooting
Turn Off and Unplug: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Leave it unplugged for about 10 minutes to allow any residual heat to dissipate.
Check the Fuser: Once the printer is cool, open the printer’s front door and check the fuser unit. Ensure it is seated properly and there are no obstructions or damage.
Inspect for Paper Jams: Look for any paper jams or debris in the paper path that could be causing the error.
Re-seat the Fuser: If possible, carefully remove and re-seat the fuser unit to ensure it is properly connected.
Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve errors. Visit the HP website, download the latest firmware for your printer model, and follow the installation instructions.
Resetting the Printer
If the basic troubleshooting steps don’t resolve the issue, you may attempt a factory reset. Here’s how you can do that:
- Factory Reset:
- Turn on the printer.
- Press the Menu button on the printer’s control panel.
- Navigate to Service or Administration (depending on your model).
- Select Restore Defaults or Reset.
- Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to restart.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

A reset is not part of the diagnostic for this error. if you have plugged directly into the wall and the unit has not recovered then the recommended course is to replace the engine controller PCB
● Engine Controller PCB Assembly, Duplex: RM2–7909–000CN
