HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M28 has a supply memory error on the yellow cartridge. I tried two new cartridges and  get this error. The old cartridge works but is very low on ink. Any idea what may be causing this error message?

Hi @Doryman73,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Confirm Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the yellow cartridge is properly installed. It should be seated correctly and securely within its slot.

Inspect Cartridge Chip: Examine the chip on the new cartridge. Ensure it's not damaged or dirty. If it appears dirty, clean it gently with a lint-free cloth.

Cartridge Compatibility: Verify that the cartridges are genuine HP products and compatible with your HP Color LaserJet Pro. Non-HP cartridges or incompatible cartridge models may cause this error.

Printer Firmware Update: Check for any updates to your printer's firmware. Sometimes, issues can be fixed with updates. Visit HP Support for the latest firmware updates.

Reset Printer: Try performing a hard reset of the printer. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for about 10 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on. This simple reset can sometimes resolve technical glitches.

Replace Cartridge: If the error persists and you have confirmed compatibility, consider trying another new cartridge, as there might be a manufacturing defect in the ones you've used.

I hope this helps.
