Hi @Liz8844,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the paper jam error on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148dw, follow these steps:

Step 1: Turn Off and Unplug the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for at least 30 seconds.

Step 2: Clear the Paper Jam

Open the Input Tray:

  • Pull out the input tray and remove any loose paper.

Check the Output Tray:

  • Lift the output tray and check for any jammed paper.

Check the Toner Cartridge Area:

  • Open the toner cartridge access door.
  • Remove the toner cartridge and place it on a clean surface.
  • Look for and remove any jammed paper in this area.

Check the Duplexer (if applicable):

  • If your printer has a duplexer, remove it and check for jammed paper.
  • Reinstall the duplexer after ensuring it is clear.

Check the Rear of the Printer:

  • Open the rear access door or panel.
  • Check for and remove any jammed paper.

Step 3: Inspect and Clean Rollers

Inspect Rollers:

  • Look at the rollers in all the areas you accessed and make sure there is no paper stuck or wrapped around them.

Clean Rollers:

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
  • Rotate the rollers to clean the entire surface.

Step 4: Reinstall Components and Test

Reinstall the Toner Cartridge:

  • Place the toner cartridge back into the printer.

Close All Doors and Trays:

  • Ensure all access doors and trays are securely closed.

Plug In and Turn On:

  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Turn on the printer.

Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page to see if the issue is resolved.

Step 5: Perform a Printer Reset (if needed)

  1. Turn Off the Printer.
  2. Disconnect the Power Cord.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the Power Cord and Turn On the Printer.
