My HP M140we starts with ER 75 with a new store HP 141A toner.  I saw in a prior issue that dealing with this required support to reset the printer via remote, but I do not know how to contact support to do this.

@avimosher, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query.

To help with this, could you confirm if you've recently moved to a different region? Moving to a new region can sometimes cause compatibility issues with toner cartridges. If that’s the case, we may need to perform a region reset to resolve the error.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your reply!  No, no new region; the printer has only ever been used in one location, and we didn't change the wireless network it was on or anything else.

Hi @avimosher,

Thank you for the details,

I understand your HP M140we is displaying Error 75 (ER 75) even with a new genuine HP 141A toner, and you’ve confirmed there has been no regional change or network modification. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power Reset the Printer

Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power outlet.

Wait for at least 60 seconds to discharge any residual power.

Plug it back in and turn it on again to see if the error clears.

Remove and Reinstall the Toner Cartridge

Open the front access door and carefully remove the toner.

Gently shake the cartridge side to side to distribute the toner evenly.

Reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place and close the access door.

Inspect the Toner Cartridge Chip

Remove the toner again and inspect the small metal or gold-colored contact chip on the cartridge.

Make sure it’s clean, intact, and not damaged.

Wipe gently with a lint-free, dry cloth if needed, then reinstall.

Check for Firmware Updates

Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.

Go to Printer Settings → Advanced Settings → Tools → Printer Update and install any available updates.

Firmware updates can fix recognition errors with new cartridge batches.

Try a Secondary Toner Cartridge

If possible, insert another HP 141A toner cartridge (preferably from a different batch or store).

If the error clears, the original cartridge may be defective or improperly chipped.

I hope this helps.
