If  turn on the power, two error messages on the display - #C3-1414  and the scanner is locked. At the same time, the printer does not make any sounds from fans or motors. When checking the power supply, there is not 24V. Question. Should be 24V  constantly at the output of the power supply (JC44-00223G)? The instructions say about the voltage (24V ONFF) on the 2nd contact of the connector CON4. It says there that the unit is faulty if the voltage on pin2 is less than 1. It is just not understand 1V or the logical level 1. It is text from manual (If the voltage range is not in the above specific voltage tolerance range, check if the voltage is "less" or "more" than "1" when connected to the Signal Connector (CON4) on pin 2. If the power is less than 1 voltage on pin 2, the SMPS is defective and should be replaced).

@oneceporuk, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP MFP M442 that does not start!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It looks like you're dealing with error #C3-1414 and a "scanner locked" message, along with a lack of sound from the printer’s fans or motors. Given that there’s no 24V output from the power supply (JC44-00223G), it makes sense to investigate whether the SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply) is functioning correctly.

To answer your question about the 24V output—yes, there should typically be 24V present when the printer is powered on. However, the manual mentions "24V ON/OFF" on pin 2 of CON4, which suggests that the power is controlled via a signal rather than being constantly supplied.

Regarding the instruction about "less than 1," the wording can be a bit unclear. In this case, it likely refers to voltage rather than a logical "1" signal. If the voltage on pin 2 is below 1V when checked, it usually indicates a faulty SMPS that needs to be replaced.

Here’s what you can do next:

Double-check the power source – Ensure the printer is receiving stable power from the outlet.

Measure pin 2 on CON4 – If it reads less than 1V, it strongly suggests the SMPS is defective.

Inspect the scanner lock – Some models have a physical scanner lock mechanism; make sure it isn’t engaged.

Let me know if this works!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I changed the power supply and 24v appeared immediately. Is it possible to find a schematic diagram for (PSPN2-Type3R-V2) for repairing the power supply. Thank you all!

@oneceporuk, thank you for getting back to us!

HP generally does not provide schematic diagrams for individual components such as power supplies, especially for proprietary models like the PSPN2-Type3R-V2.
