Hi @LIMP2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer is consistently printing 1/4 inch to the left (off-center), there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Check Paper Alignment in Tray: Ensure that the paper stack in the tray is aligned properly. Sometimes, if the paper is not aligned correctly, it can cause the print to be off-center.

Adjust Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides inside the tray are snug against the paper stack and are correctly adjusted to the paper size you are using. Misaligned paper guides can lead to skewed printing.

Printer Driver Settings: Verify the settings in your printer driver software on your computer:

  • Open the Control Panel or System Preferences on your computer.
  • Go to Devices and Printers (Windows) or Printers & Scanners (Mac).
  • Locate your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer, right-click (Windows) or control-click (Mac) on it, and choose "Printing Preferences" or "Properties."
  • Look for any settings related to paper alignment, margins, or print positioning. Ensure they are set correctly.

Calibrate Printer: Some printers allow you to calibrate the print alignment through their control panel or software. Check your printer’s user manual for instructions on how to perform a print alignment or calibration.

Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. HP often releases updates that can fix bugs or improve performance, including print alignment.

Check Paper Type and Size Settings: Confirm that the paper type and size settings in both the printer and the software you are printing from match the actual paper you are using. Using incorrect settings can cause alignment issues.

Clean Printer Rollers: If the printer rollers are dirty or worn out, they may not feed the paper properly, leading to misalignment. Clean the rollers according to the printer’s manual instructions.

Reset Printer Settings: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can often resolve configuration-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
