The title is the issue.  I can see that it is a recuring issue with hundreds of people, and I have tried several online fix's to no avail.  I have never had the issue using non hp cartages in this printer till now.  I need to know how to use non HP cartages in my Officejet 6978 printer so I do not get the "Non-HP chip detected error message preventing me from printing. Exclusively using HP ink is not the answer. 

Thanks for your help and guidance on this issue.

 It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your printer cartridges. We always recommend using genuine HP ink cartridges.

 

I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

 If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above links do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.
