HP OfficeJet 4652 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I changed from a HP Pavilion Laptop to a HP Envy and now my HP OfficeJet 4652 will not correctly print checks from a word document I created and moved to the new laptop.  Still works from old laptop but prints in what I'm calling a shark tooth pattern from the Envy.

@GlennB1RD, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 4652 is misprinting checks from Word documents on your new HP Envy laptop, even though it prints correctly from your older HP Pavilion. The “shark tooth” pattern you’re seeing could be caused by driver compatibility, page scaling settings, or document formatting changes during the transfer.

Let’s walk through some steps to resolve this:

Reinstall the Full Feature Printer Driver

Windows 11 may have installed a basic driver automatically. To ensure full compatibility:

  • Go to the official HP driver page: Official HP® Support
  • Select Windows 11 as your OS, then download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver.
  • After installation, restart your PC and try printing the check again.

Check Word Document Formatting

Sometimes, document formatting can shift between systems:

  1. Open the Word document on your new laptop.
  2. Go to File > Print > Print Preview and check if the layout looks correct.
  3. Ensure the correct paper size is selected (e.g., Letter or Check Paper).
  4. If you used custom margins or fonts, verify they are installed and consistent.

Disable Scaling or Fit-to-Page

Incorrect scaling can cause misalignment:

  1. In the Print dialog, click Printer Properties.
  2. Look for options like Scaling, Fit to Page, or Resize.
  3. Set scaling to 100% or Actual Size.

Try Printing from HP Smart App

This can help bypass driver issues:

Download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or HP Smart

Add your printer and try printing the same document.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
