I have the same problem as others in this forum - but no useable HP fix advised. Yesterday the printer was working, now it's a zombie - no noise, no connectivity, black/black LCD panel - only sign of life are the front panel four LEDs (home, question, return back and WiFi) that are permanently illuminated. I tried the 4 press return back button but zero.  Your staff mentioned updating the firmware, but the linked firmware update file is useless since the printer's USB and Wifi is not alive. One of HP solutions was to update the printer firmware via a USB flash drive but I can't find a correct HP .bdl file for this model.  I Really need help this time, since I had a major **bleep** fight with HP over my previous similar printer about 2 years ago when a genuine HP print cartridge apparently killed the printer and HP evaded liability/support and reverted me to their sales dept to buy a new printer at full retail price - obviously not happy.  However I purchased this 7740 model as the newest, similar HP printer and now it's failed after 2.4 years... Very Frustrating and I try to support HP.  Surely higher end HP printers should last more than two years - so far all of my six HP printers have failed just after the warranty expires ?  Please HELP ?
