HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this printer several years ago, and now it remains asleep.  I have unplugged it many times to reset it, deleted HP Smart and reinstalled it several times, reset the modem (it is connected wirelessly to the printer), and still it goes asleep.  The console setting for keeping it on does not allow me to turn off asleep mode -- maximum is 15 minutes.  It is very frustrating to use.   It is set to IP 10.0.0.5 automatically.   Please help!  Thanks!

@sarahmdgal, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Set a Static IP Address

Prevents your printer from "getting lost" on the network.

On your printer, print a Network Report to find the IP (e.g., 10.0.0.5).

On a computer, open a browser and go to http://10.0.0.5.

Go to Network > IP Settings.

Set IP to Manual.

Change Sleep Settings

On the printer screen:
Settings > Preferences > Energy Settings

Set Sleep Mode to 15 minutes (or max allowed).

Set Auto-Off to Off, if available.

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Reinstall Printer Using IP Address

On your PC:

Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add Printer

Click “The printer I want isn’t listed”

Choose “Add printer using TCP/IP”

Choose Standard TCP/IP Port (not WSD)

Use HP’s driver for your model.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
