Hp 6960
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My Hp 6960 will not print black, colour is OK I've bought new ink at great expense to rule that out, spent over two hours and sheets of paper using the 'tools; enclosed with the HP software, not a drop! This printer is 18 months old and is now useless. Can anyone please advise a solution?

Are you able to copy in black?

Betty many thanks for your reply. I have seen the document you mentioned and tried everything on the list. I must admit I have not tried to copy, assuming that it would not work. My wife is working from home, and has been for 6 weeks. The printer has been working fine and has used two HP black cartridges. It was getting low on the last one and then stared to print with smears, and now has not printed in black at all since. I have bought a new cartridge and still no black print. The colours print out Ok.

Its only 14 months old, what else can I do? your help would be greatly appreciated.

This seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
