Microsoft Windows 11

Hello!

My HP Officejet Pro 6968 printer is printing continually erratic letters, symbols, a few lines on a page, with endless pages going through and won't stop until I press "x" on the display of the printer.  Wassup? I've tried unplugging x 60 seconds as suggested, and this is not resolving the issue. What suggestions might anyone have for me to try? How do I reach HP tech support online and in realtime?

Hi @KarunaHC21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 is experiencing a print job corruption issue, potentially caused by a stuck or corrupted print queue, driver issues, or even a software conflict. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Cancel All Print Jobs

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 and select See what's printing.
  • Click Printer > Cancel All Documents.

Restart Printer & Computer

  • Power off the printer.
  • Unplug the printer from power for 2-3 minutes.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Connection & Reinstall Driver

  • If you're printing over WiFi, check the connection.
  • If using USB, try a different port.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the HP drivers:
    1. Uninstall: Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program and remove any HP OfficeJet 6968 software.
    2. Reinstall: Download the latest drivers from HP’s official website and install them.

Try a Test Print

  • Open Notepad, type something simple, and try printing to see if it works normally.

Reset the Printer

If the issue persists, reset the printer to factory settings:

  1. On the printer Control Panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
  2. Confirm reset and restart the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
