Printer randomly goes into a fault mode. The isplay of the printer shows a power symbol and the error code b8e53394. Restarting the printer seems to fix it temporarily, but the error eventually returns. Looking at the Event Log Report, it appears to have additional information: SOL:FAULT Oxb6e53394@0x17c9ce88. I can't find any information online regarding these fault codes. I would appreciate any information on these codes.
Thanks.

Hi @elonjay,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code b8e53394 with additional details like SOL:FAULT Oxb6e53394@0x17c9ce88 on an HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 typically indicates a hardware fault or a firmware issue. While specific documentation for these fault codes can be hard to come by, here are a few steps you can try to address the issue.
- Firmware Update: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve unexpected faults. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP support website.
- Power Cycle: Perform a complete power cycle by unplugging the printer from the power source, waiting for at least 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.
- Check Connections: Ensure that all cables and connections are secure. Loose or damaged cables can sometimes cause hardware faults.
- Inspect for Obstructions: Check for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Even small bits of paper or foreign objects can cause faults.
- Reset Printer: Perform a factory reset of the printer. Note that this will erase all settings and restore the printer to its original state, so you’ll need to reconfigure it afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
