Every time we try to print to this printer it gives us the error code and we have to power cycle it. We tried unplugging and power draining it, checking for jams, and confirming the ink was all good. We aren't sure what the error code is even trying to tell us. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @alapratt,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're encountering the B808745C error code on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 Series printer when printing from your Windows 11 PC. This error typically indicates a firmware or internal communication fault. Since you've already tried power cycling, unplugging, and checking for jams, let's proceed with more advanced troubleshooting steps.

Step 1: Update the Printer Firmware

Why: Outdated firmware can cause various issues, including error codes.

How:

  1. Download the Latest Firmware:
  2. Install the Firmware:
    • Connect your printer to the computer via USB.
    • Run the downloaded firmware file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: Ensure the printer remains powered on and connected during the update process.

Step 2: Perform a Semi-Full Reset

A semi-full reset can clear internal memory and restore default settings, potentially resolving persistent errors.

  1. Access the Reset Menu:
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
    • Wait for 60 seconds.
    • While holding down the Back and Cancel buttons simultaneously, plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
    • Continue holding the buttons until the printer powers on and displays a reset menu.
  2. Initiate the Reset:
    • Use the arrow keys to navigate to Semi-Full Reset and press OK

Caution: This reset will restore the printer to its factory settings. You may need to reconfigure your printer settings afterwards.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
