Hello, I recently plugged my HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e back in after some time of not using it and when I try to print color images, they only print in black and white.  All of the cartridges are full, color settings are on and yet nothing is printing in color.  Does anybody have any insight as to why this may be happening?

Any information would be great.  Thank you.

@jcardodeucedos2, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is only printing in black and white despite having full color cartridges and correct settings, here are some steps to help resolve the issue:

Check Printer Preferences

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e and select Printing Preferences.
  • Under the Paper/Quality tab, ensure Color is selected (not “Black & White” or “Grayscale”).

Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

HP provides a built-in tool in the HP Smart app that can automatically detect and fix common printing issues:

  • Download or open the HP Smart app/HP App. HP Smart
  • Go to Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix and follow the prompts.

Check Ink Cartridge Health

  • Open the printer’s front panel and inspect the color cartridges.
  • Make sure they are genuine HP cartridges and properly seated.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts if needed using a lint-free cloth.

Print a Test Page

  • On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report.
  • This will help determine if the issue is with the printer hardware or software.

Update Printer Firmware

Check Application Print Settings

  • If printing from apps like Word or Adobe Reader, ensure the Print in Grayscale option is unchecked in the print dialog.

Try a Different Document

  • Sometimes, the issue may be with the document itself. Try printing a known color-rich image or PDF to test.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
