HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 won't print red.  I have changed out the yellow ink and the magenta ink, and have performed two of the steps for cleaning the print heads.   Still not printing red.

Hi @M_6531,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the lack of red print on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8035!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Use Genuine HP Cartridges

Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges, as non-HP cartridges can lead to print quality issues. You can purchase original cartridges from the HP Store.

Check the Print Quality Report

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page to check if the magenta ink (which combines with yellow to create red) is printed correctly. You can do this from the printer control panel:

  • On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, and select the setup icon.
  • Swipe up, select Reports, and then select Print Quality Report.

Check Test Pattern 2 for streaks, missing sections, or incorrect colors.

Evaluate Test Pattern Results

If you notice mixed, streaked, or missing colors in the magenta and yellow sections, these indicate printhead or ink cartridge issues.

  • If Test Patterns 1 and 2 show no problems, continue troubleshooting by checking software settings, paper, and the file being printed.

Clean Printhead

Use the automated tool to clean the printhead:

  • Access the Printer Maintenance menu on your printer's control panel and select Clean Printhead. Follow the on-screen steps to initiate the cleaning process.
  • If necessary, repeat the cleaning process if you notice improvements but not complete resolution.

Replace Problematic Ink Cartridges

If cleaning does not fix the color problem, consider replacing the ink cartridges associated with the issues. Make sure the magenta cartridge is properly installed and has adequate ink levels.

I hope this helps.
