HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 jams double sided printing

My OfficeJet Pro is a great printer, and it used to be great for double-sided printing.  In the past year it jams almost every time when printing multiple pages double-sided.  It used to have the second side printed at an angle, dog-earing the corners, but now it just rips the pages literally in half internally.

It still prints single-sided perfectly, and it prints one double-sided page without issue.  It seems to use a different paper path for one double-sided page than for multiple double-sided pages.

Does anyone know how to configure it to always use the "working" double-sided paper path?  The rollers all feel clean to me.

This seems like an issue with the duplexer. Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware
