I have the exact same issue. I have confirmed that the firmware is up to date. I am able to reset the printer by unplugging it for 30seconds and restarting the printer.

The issue is occurring on a daily basis -- completely unacceptable for a printer that is less than a year old.

Update:

I have tried all the 'fixes' I can find online without success. In fact the problem has gotten worse. At the start it was only occurring intermittently and it is now almost constant.  At this point the printer is almost useless and I may have to purchase a new printer and, given the lack of recognition of this issue, don't expect it to be another HP.
