When I go to print any document the print queue appears, the printer turns on and then clicks like it's going to print the document but then it never prints. The print queue on my computer is finished but then when I go into jobs on my printer the "job" is still there and it's just circling. My document never prints. I can scan but I cannot print anything. I've even tried to make a copy of a document and it scans it through but it does not print. I've powered down, reset the spooling, cleaned and ran maintenance and even did a device diagnosis and no issues were found. However, the document still does not print from the actual printer.

Hey @luvstrolls,
Thank you for your response
Thank you for confirming all the steps you’ve already tried — you’ve done an excellent job narrowing down the issue. Since the printer does start up and communicates correctly with the computer but stops just before printing, and it briefly worked after replacing an ink cartridge, this points to a possible ink system or cartridge recognition issue rather than a connection or driver problem.
Replace all low cartridges
Remove and clean cartridges—Take out each one and wipe the metal contacts with a soft cloth slightly dampened with water. Let them dry and put them back firmly.
Power reset—With the cartridges out, unplug the printer for 1 minute, then plug it back in and reinsert the cartridges.
Run a test page from the printer’s control panel.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

@luvstrolls, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you've done a good job troubleshooting so far, but the issue persists. Here’s a detailed approach to troubleshooting your HP printer issue. Since you've already reset spooling, done maintenance, and run diagnostics, we'll walk through some additional steps:
Check Printer Connection
Wired (USB): Make sure the USB cable is firmly connected to both the printer and your computer. Try a different USB port on the computer.
Wireless (Wi-Fi): Ensure the printer is still connected to the correct network. Print a network configuration page directly from the printer’s settings to confirm that the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi.
Restart the Printer and Computer
Power off both your printer and computer.
Wait a minute before turning them back on.
Try printing again after both devices are powered up.
Clear the Print Queue
Even though you’ve tried clearing the print queue, here’s a step-by-step to ensure nothing is stuck:
Open the Control Panel on your PC (or Settings > Devices on Windows 10).
Go to Devices and Printers.
Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
If there are jobs in the queue, cancel them.
Restart your computer and printer again.
Update Printer Drivers
Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause printing issues. Try updating your printer drivers:
Go to the HP Support Website: HP Drivers & Downloads.
Enter your printer model and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
After installing, restart the printer and computer and try printing again.
Check Printer Spooler Service
The print spooler manages all print jobs. If it's stopped or malfunctioning, you can try restarting it manually:
Press Windows Key + R, then type services.msc and press Enter.
Look for Print Spooler in the list of services.
Right-click it and select Restart.
If the service isn’t running, select Start.
Try Printing from Another Device
Test printing from another computer or device (laptop, mobile, etc.) to isolate the issue. If the printer prints from another device, the issue is likely with the original computer’s print settings or drivers.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have done all of this and the printer still wasn't working. I put in a new cyan ink cartage as it was low and then it started printing for a few days. However, now it stopped printing today again. I see the other two colors are very low so I'm going to try and add new ones in and see if that helps. Something keeps it from not actually printing. The computer is communicating with the printer and you can hear the print "start-up" like it's going to print but then it just doesn't print and the job in the que is just circling.
