@bobgott22, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since you're using an HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e and trying to print from a second computer via Wi-Fi, but are getting an error despite diagnostics showing a good connection, here’s a structured troubleshooting approach to resolve the issue:

Checklist to Confirm First

  1. Printer Status: Is the printer online and not in an error or sleep state?
  2. Same Network: Ensure both the printer and the second computer are on the same Wi-Fi network and frequency (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz).
  3. Print Queue: Check if the print job is stuck in the Print Queue:
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > [your printer] > Open print queue
  • Cancel all jobs and try printing again.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Ping Test (Network Check)

  • Open Command Prompt on the second computer.
  • Type:
    ping [printer IP address]

  • Replace [printer IP address] with the IP of your printer (found on the printer's control panel or network report).
  • If packets are lost or no response, your network is blocking traffic.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Visit the HP support page: https://support.hp.com
  • Download the latest full-feature software for Windows 11 for the OfficeJet Pro 9125e.
  • Uninstall the existing printer from:
    Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > [your printer] > Remove
  • Reinstall using the full package, not just the Windows default driver.

Print Using IP Address (Workaround)

  • Add the printer using IP:
  1. Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device
  2. Click "Add manually"
  3. Choose "Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname"
  4. Enter the IP address of the printer

Disable SNMP (If Applicable)

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click the printer > Printer Properties > Ports tab
  • Select the active port (usually Standard TCP/IP) > click Configure Port
  • Uncheck “SNMP Status Enabled” > OK > Apply

Firewall/Antivirus Exceptions

  • Temporarily disable firewall or antivirus and attempt to print.
  • Ensure HP services (like HPNetworkCommunicator.exe) are not being blocked.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool (Official HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows | Free Download hppsdr.exe) on the second computer.

Try using the HP Smart app to print — this sometimes bypasses standard Windows printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

As it turns out, per the HP documentation, I selected the printer named HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e and nothing printed.  But when I changed printer to HP Smart Printing everything seemed to work and printed.  I don't why worked. On my original laptop, after installation, I did select HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e and it did work.

So all is well now ..
