Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an OfficeJet 6968 all in one.  It stopped printing.   The fix & diagnose function said nothing was wrong.  I tried aligning and cleaning the print heads.  The ink levels are fine.  It either prints blank or super light.  When I tried to copy something, it came out blank.  Trying to print, same thing.  Cleaning the print head seemed to be successful.  While trying to align the print head (I think that was the function), the print page came out fine, but received an error message while trying to perform the second half of what was to be done (when the page goes on the glass).  I don't know what else to do besides buy a new printer.  I hope someone has suggestions because I keep spinning my wheels here.

Welcome to the HP support community.

What error message are you getting while aligning the printer?

Meanwhile:-

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Thank you for your suggestions.  I had tried all of that before I posted.  All the diagnostic options, updated firmware and software (was already up to date) and rebooted machine (removing the power cord from it).   Got super frustrated as we need the printer now and found a 6978 on sale and will post my other one somewhere for parts.  I still think it may need a new print head and was  then having difficulty trying to figure out if buying the part would have been worth a shot.

The printhead isn't replaceable on this printer. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
