Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Officejet 4625 is printing blank pages. both carterages have ink. Printer Status report is blank.  Print Quality report is blank.  Is sounds like it is printing but there is no ink on the pages.  I pressed clean the Print head, Aligned Printer & Clean an Ink smear buttons but nothing works.  I have not used the printer in a year or two but it worked before.  How do I fix this problem?

Hi @mridug2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 4625 is printing blank pages despite having ink and attempting cleaning and alignment procedures, here are steps you can take to try to fix the issue.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure Proper Installation: Remove the cartridges and reinsert them securely.
  • Verify Venting: Check the small vent holes on the top of the cartridges. If they are clogged, clean them gently with a pin or needle.
  • Cartridge Age: If the cartridges have been unused for a long time, the ink might have dried out. Consider replacing them with new cartridges.

Manually Clean the Printhead

Since the printer has been unused for a long time, dried ink in the printhead could be the issue. Perform a manual cleaning:

  • Step 1: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Step 2: Remove the ink cartridges and locate the printhead.
  • Step 3: Dampen a lint-free cloth with warm distilled water.
  • Step 4: Gently wipe the printhead's nozzles and contacts to remove any dried ink or debris.
  • Step 5: Allow the printhead to dry for 5–10 minutes before reinserting the cartridges.

Run Multiple Printhead Cleaning Cycles

Sometimes, a single cleaning cycle is insufficient. Run the cleaning process from the printer's control panel or HP software multiple times (3–4 times), waiting a few minutes between cycles.

Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware and Drivers

  • Ensure your printer firmware is updated to the latest version. You can download updates from the HP Support Website.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers on your computer, as outdated or corrupt drivers can sometimes cause issues.

Inspect for Air Bubbles in the Ink Supply

If your printer uses a continuous ink system or third-party cartridges, air bubbles in the ink lines can block ink flow. Gently tap the cartridges to remove air bubbles, if applicable.

Reset the Printer

Perform a full reset of the printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 2–3 minutes.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
