Hi - I have an HP OfficeJet 4630 which has been working fine for years until a couple days ago when we got a Carriage Jam message. The carriage does move and I've checked everywhere for jams and there aren't any. Following instructions on this forum, I updated my printer driver and then got an Error Code OX83C0000A NOS_LOADER_APP. After restarting the printer, I now have error code OXB8000448 and don't know what to do at this point. Can someone assist?

@Jen0920, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Officejet!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It looks like your HP OfficeJet 4630 is experiencing multiple issues, starting with a Carriage Jam, followed by the OX83C0000A NOS_LOADER_APP error, and now the OXB8000448 error. Let’s troubleshoot step by step.

Reset the Printer

A power reset can sometimes resolve firmware-related errors.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Disconnect any USB or network cables.
  3. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check if the error persists.

Inspect the Carriage Path

Even though the carriage moves, something might still be obstructing it.

  1. Open the front cover and check for any stuck paper or debris.
  2. Move the carriage manually to the left and right.
  3. If there’s resistance, gently clean the rails with a lint-free cloth.
  4. Close the cover and restart the printer.

Perform a Semi-Full Reset

If the error continues, try a Semi-Full Reset to restore the printer to factory defaults.

  1. Press Bottom Left/Top Left/Bottom Left/Bottom Left/Top Left buttons on the printer
  2. Bottom Left is Dash symbol.
  3. Top Left is Home Icon.

This will reset most settings and clear certain error codes.

Update or Reinstall Firmware

The OX83C0000A NOS_LOADER_APP error indicates a firmware issue. Try updating it:

  1. Go to HP’s official support website and download the latest firmware for the OfficeJet 4630.
  2. Connect the printer via USB and run the firmware update.
  3. Restart the printer and check if the issue is resolved.

Let me know how it goes!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
