HP Officejet 6500A right side of Touch Screen not working

HP Recommended
HP Officejet 6500A
macOS 10.15 Catalina

The right side of the control panel is no longer working. I tried to perform a reset, but since then I cannot get past the initial setup screen since the confirmation to start setup is on the right side of the screen.

HP web site says it on the current Firmware, but the log mentions a firmware error.

I have tried to use ftp to copy the firmware to the printer, but can't get passed the sftp issue, as ftp no longer supported.

Basically, i'm stuck as the printer will not respond to software command as a User Action is required.

I need a way to reflash the printer without using the printers control panel.

@AndrewSep, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I'm afraid this is a hardware failure with the printer display. You may perform a hard reset and check if that helps:

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
