@D-Funk, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

The “Out of Paper” error on your HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer (H711n), despite a full tray, can be caused by a few common issues. Let’s walk through some steps to resolve it:

Check Paper Type and Loading

  • Use plain white paper (avoid glossy, photo, or specialty papers for testing).
  • Fan the stack to prevent sheets from sticking together.
  • Ensure the paper is not curled, wrinkled, or damp.
  • Load paper properly:
    • Do not overfill the tray (max 250 sheets).
    • Adjust the paper width guides to touch the edges of the paper lightly.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Dust or debris on the rollers can prevent paper from feeding.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the rear access door.
  • Locate and clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Let them dry completely before closing the door and powering the printer back on.

Reset the Printer

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Update Firmware and Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause paper feed errors.

  • Visit the Official HP® Support
  • Enter your printer model: HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer - H711n.
  • Download and install the latest firmware and drivers.

Try a Test Print

After completing the steps above, try printing a test page. If the issue persists, let us know:

  • The type/brand of paper used.
  • Whether the printer makes any noise when trying to print.
  • If the rollers move or remain idle.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
