HP Officejet Pro 8100

Hi there

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8100 which is a few years old. I've never had any problems with it before that couldn't be solved by cleaning the print heads, but last week I replaced an empty Magenta cartridge with a new, HP brand 951 Magenta cartridge, and I haven't been able to print since.

 

On the printer itself, the new cartridge is showing as empty (no bars lit) and the 'M'/Magenta dot flashes, as does the standby/on light on the 'ON' button on the printer. Checking the utility shows an error message 'Cartridge has failed — Magenta Ink, Cartridge is non-HP'. 

 

The cartridge I have installed is a 951, with a z20 region code, for use in Europe, so should not be an issue me in the UK. I cannot print at all. Trying to clean the print heads gives me an error message 'Printer is in an error state — Please resolve the error condition for the device and try again'. 

 

I've tried resetting the printer, uninstalling and reinstalling the printer but to no avail.
