Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 - have had for years.  The display is hard to read and has been for years as well.  But - it has been working well.  Home office used - nothing too terrible.  I changed ink cartridges and due to the display not working  - I cannot give the full error message.  I can tell it is a bunch of gobbledyguck and goes "2 pages" on the display screen.  Using the HP option on my computer does not give any information.  Just says to try turning the printer off and then back on.  If the issue isn't fixed then contact HP.  I have tried printing a test page using the printer app and cannot get anything going.  I have taken out all of the ink cartridges and have reset them.  The cartridges were just taken out of the box and are original HP cartridges.  Which is unfortunate if the printer has taken a dump and will no longer work.  any ideas?

Hi @aecarlson,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer that is showing an error.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
