Hi @Viddless,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 9010 is producing scanned documents with a vertical line from top to bottom, it's likely due to a physical issue with the scanner glass or automatic document feeder (ADF). Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

1. Clean the Scanner Glass and ADF

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is powered off before proceeding.

Inspect the Scanner Glass:

  • Open the scanner lid and inspect the glass surface where you place your documents for scanning. Look for any dirt, smudges, or debris that could be causing the line.

Clean the Scanner Glass:

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with glass cleaner or water to gently clean the scanner glass. Wipe in one direction to avoid streaks. Be careful not to scratch the glass.

Clean the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder):

  • If you use the ADF for scanning multiple pages, also check and clean the rollers and the scanning strip under the ADF cover. These areas can accumulate dirt or debris and cause lines on scanned documents.

Test the Scanner:

  • After cleaning, close the scanner lid and power on the printer. Place a clean, blank sheet of paper on the scanner glass and initiate a test scan. Check if the vertical line still appears on the scanned document.

2. Check for Firmware Updates

Access the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as your printer.
  • Enter the printer's IP address in the address bar. You can find the IP address on the printer’s control panel by navigating to Network Settings or Wireless menu.

Navigate to the Update Firmware Section:

  • In the EWS, go to the Tools or Firmware section.
  • Check for any available firmware updates and follow the on-screen instructions to update the printer’s firmware.

Restart the Printer:

  • After updating the firmware, restart your printer and test the scanner again to see if the issue is resolved

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
