Hi @kasperinokc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e stuck on “Validating... Please wait”, especially after trying everything, power cycling, reinstalling cartridges, and cleaning contacts. Let’s walk through this together with precision to get your printer back on track.

1. Perform a Full Power Reset

This clears residual memory and forces a fresh startup.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from both the wall socket and the printer end.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

2. Check Cartridge Compatibility

Even genuine HP cartridges can fail validation if:

  • They’re Instant Ink cartridges, but the printer is not enrolled.
  • They’re region-locked (e.g., US cartridges in an EU printer).
  • The chip has expired or is damaged.

👉 Make sure you’re using standard HP 910XL cartridges, not Instant Ink ones.

3. Clean Cartridge Contacts

Sometimes, ink residue or oxidation causes poor contact.

  • Power off the printer.
  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean:
    • The gold contacts on the cartridge.
    • The contact area inside the printer.
  • Let everything dry before reinserting.

4. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause validation loops.

5. Factory Reset the Printer

This clears all settings and forces reinitialization.

Steps:

  • On the printer touchscreen, go to: Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults
  • Confirm and let the printer restart.

If the touchscreen is unresponsive, try:

  • Hold Power + Cancel for 10 seconds (or refer to your model’s manual for the reset combo).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
