We have had errors with the printer recently. It has been giving an error reading 'supply system problem' 'try replacing the affected cartridge with a different non empty cartridge. if message reappears again record message and contact support.

We have replaced all ink cartridges however the error is still active in relation to magenta. The printer will not allow printing at all the error just continuously pops up.

I have tried a factory reset amongst other things but to no avail.

If anybody has any suggestions?

@BRICUNN84, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The "Supply System Problem" error especially when it persists after replacing all cartridges, typically points to a deeper issue with the ink delivery system or cartridge recognition. Since you've already tried a factory reset and replaced all cartridges, here are some advanced steps to help resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Authenticity

Ensure the magenta cartridge is genuine HP and not refilled or counterfeit. Non-HP cartridges can trigger supply system errors.

Clean Cartridge Contacts

Sometimes ink or debris on the cartridge contacts can cause recognition issues.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the magenta cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Let it dry, reinstall, and power on.

Try a Different Magenta Cartridge

Even if the cartridge is new, it may be defective. Try using another non-empty magenta cartridge, preferably from a different batch.

Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

This tool can automatically detect and resolve many cartridge-related issues.

Check for Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware can cause cartridge recognition issues.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
