I followed the instructions you sent me / us and it doesn't work because the touchscreen is not accessible / pressing the bottom left "return" button 4 times doesn't work and the blue screen blocks everything. When I try to turn the printer on there is a white light that shows up for a few seconds then it vanishes and the blue screen error appears.

Please advice us correctly so that we can do a proper reset... This solution you sent has seemingly not been tested beforehand and it's not pragmatic.

Hello @Raj2111,

thanks for the response - which I poste below for the reference of others who have experienced the same issue.

The instructions to use the 4 x "return / bottom left button" are completely  without effect.

The bluescreen persists (picture1 below) and there seems to be no way of getting into the menue to perfom the reset.

Picture 2 below shows where to assume the BL key to be located. Maybe others have more luck.

Please advise what to do.

It seems this last firmware update has bricked a number of printers (based on other responses below)...

These were the provided instructions:

Follow these steps to perform a semi-full reset on the printer.

BL - Bottom left key, which is the Back/return button on your printer, it may not be lit up which is alright, tap it 4 times consecutively from the home screen of the printer to get the support menu.

Support Menu >Resets Menu>Semi-Full Reset

  1. Press the Power button to turn the Printer On.
  2. Press BL, BL, BL, BL Buttons, in sequence.
  3. BL is the number 2 button in the above picture of the printer display.
  4. Touch Support Menu.
  5. Select Reset Menu and Touch OK.
  6. Select Semi-Full Reset and Touch OK.
  7. Wait for unit to Power Down/Turn Off.
  8. Press Power button to turn the Printer On.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for sharing these instructions. I did not have any more luck though. I will send the printer back to Amazon and let them deal with HP.

Hi, we also have the same issue. Can you help us out. Very frustrated

I'm having the same issues my printer is less than a year old. I have a blue screen with the error code coming up it appears to be locked to that screen I can't print from my phone, nor my computer how do we resolve this issue and has anyone resolves it using the advice shown.

I have exactly the same problem and HP are being no help at all.  Has anyone successfully managed to correct this fault?

I have the same issue - reset does not work.

It seems HP is not able to provide a real solution to this issue here, while many people seems to be affected.

In my case, I purchased the printer 14 months ago via Amazon.

HP replacement warranty has run out after 12 months.

Amazon provides a 2 year warranty, but they exempt damages caused by third parties,

so a bricked printer caused by a erroneous firmware update is not covered.

It would be great if HP could provide a solution here, before concluding never to buy an HP product again...

Has anyone found any other solution?
